Calanques in Provence by Philippe Poulet
Halfway Marseilles and Toulon, the Calanques massif is before all a real mountain in edge of sea. It dominates the sea of 565 m to the Mont Puget and extends on 20 kilometers between Marseilles and Cassis. This massif continues then until La Ciotat by the imposing Cap Canaille and the Bec de l'Aigle to more than 400 meters to the top of the sea. This sumptuous coast is notched many, narrow and deep notches: Calanques ( creeks ).
