Interview in Istanbul by Guia Besana
INTERVIEW IN ISTANBUL is a portrait of 20 women coming from different situations, social positions, religions and ages. All women in this portrait series are living in Istanbul. The project aims to give voice to Turkish woman on behalf of their condition in Turkey and on the possibility of Turkey to join EU. Among the subjects, 3 business women, the most important lawyer for Women’s Human Rights, a woman from the russian orthodox comunity and the most known transexual of the country who struggled to legalize transexuals in Turkey and who is still leading the battle for gay rights.
To each woman the same three questions were asked:
1. How would you describe being a woman in Turkey today
2. What changes do you expect to be done in behalf of woman if Turkey will join EU
3. An important moment you wish to talk about or a thought.
