The first female Gondoliera by Mauro Bottaro
Alexandra Hai, German born 34 year old who has spent her last 10 years in Venice to persue her dream of becoming a Gondoliera, has finally succeeded. When she first arrived in Venice she could not forsee that a passion for the Gondola would turn into a real challenge when the powerful lobby of the traditional Gondola drivers would decide she was not going to become one of them. Maybe because she is a woman, or because she is foreign, it has been a tough journey for Alex to tackle. But now she has become the first female Gondoliera in Venice.
