The Matigsalug Tribe by Kurt Hoerbst

The 37 years old Datu Roelito Gawilan, also called „Datu Lito“ is the political leader of the Matigsalug tribe. This Indigenous group of inhabitants live in the south of the island Mindanao on the Philippines. Political and religious conflicts about natural ressources make these islands to a difficult region and bring them into the international news from time to time. This instability influences the daily life and the cultural surviving of this tribe in all their aspects.
