Prostitutes in Cambodia by Paolo Woods

A story on the prostitution phenomena in Cambodia. Estimates say there are more then 40.000 prostitutes in Cambodia of which 30 to 40% are minors. Most of them come from the impoverished countryside and are then sold to pimps or brothels were they often become victims of violence, AIDS and drugs. Focusing on the "White Building" a vast crumbling complex in the center of Phnom Penh, it is inhabited by hundreds of families, squatters, and small businesses but is mostly infamous for being a center of prostitution and drug abuse. Underage prostitutes, their pimps and dealers all live and work here.
