Yo Claudia by Joan Costa
Claudia is the history of a transsexual from Leon (Spain) in a crucial period of her life that begins with the decision to turn into woman and to culminate, at the moment, with the operation of change of sex in Thailand. Two years in which Claudia, activist in pursuit of the rights of the transsexuals, has seen not only how her body was changing but also as the society: law began to accept their rights. At the age of 15, Claudia understood that she felt as a woman. The fear of the rejection lead her to denying her circumstance and she lived as man during more than one decade while she was studying journalism in Madrid and began her professional career. A series of trips and experiences conected her with her femininity and in 2003, during a manifestation against the war of Iraq in Washington, she decided to turn, privately, into a girl. In the following two years she had to demonstrate to the psychologists her woman's condition while to the rest of the society she kept her man's appearance.
She found the support that she needed in the activism of the transsexual groups and in January, 2005 she gave the most important step and began her public life as woman in Madrid.
