On Different Ground - Relocation Post 9/11 by Lauren Hermele

According to estimates by the Alliance for Downtown NY, after the collapse of the World Trade Center, more than 10,000  New Yorkers had to evacuate their homes. When these evacuees were allowed back into their homes, the physical and emotional implications of staying there were too severe for many. Some residents had such en intense experience of the WTC disaster, that moving back was too much of a constant reminder. In short, people scattered, trying to relocate both their minds and their hearts. For many of those who lived in the area, relocating was the first step towards moving on with their lives. Where have all the people who left NY post 9/11 gone and how have their lives changed and evolved as a result?
