Senior Citizens & Dance by Lauren Hermele

As I grow older and my parents have started to receive senior citizen discounts, my idea of age is revolutionizing. I no longer think of age as a concrete categorized way of digesting people but rather, something that is defined but that doesn’t necessarily define. What makes old people young and young people old? The closest answer I have come up with is that ability to maintain both close physical and emotional contact with others, avoiding isolation, keeps people young. Just because someone is ‘old’ doesn’t mean they should stop trying to find someone to be close with. Being with people, and sharing our lives with others is the most important thing there is, this shouldn’t stop at any age. However, the way people go about meeting may vary with age.
