Promotion Balls in Warsaw - Between the Old and the New by Agnieszka Rayss
Promotion balls are an old tradition in Poland but they differ a lot from the proms from a decade ago. In the conservative schools balls are held in the schools themselves but even there proms are show off. Pupils hire limousines to get to the ball, girls are often dressed like Hollywood stars. Some schools organize proms in the expensive hotels. But regardless of the dress and food price, place where the prom is organized, it is the last school party where teenagers are having a good time, dance till the morning, smoke cigarette or drink beer when teachers can’t see them….
The story was shot in the schools and hotel in order to show the contrast between harsh post-communist school interiors and luxury of modern places.
