Amasra by Sinan Cakmak
Amasra is one of the very few natural harbours on the Anatolian Blacksea coast. So it has a long history with Geonese, Byzantine etc... It is important in the Turkish Republic history for being the first official tourist resort of Turkey (started in 1950'ies) and also once a big coal producer. It is different to most of the rest of the Turkish Blacksea coast by not being conservative and very open minded. Most locals are proud old communists and therefore have had problems with the Republic. It is still a very small town (pop. 6000).
