The Santa Clara-a-Velha convent returns to Coimbra by Susana Paiva
After three hundred years, the stones, which had disappeared under water, have once again become stones that dazzle everything and everyone. Santa Clara-a-Velha (Old Santa Clara), as the old convent built in the fourteenth century under the orders of Queen Isabella of Castile has rather vulgarly been labelled, has been brought back to life in the city in all its glory, as if wanting to take its revenge on those who left it abandoned for centuries.
