Flour War - The End of the Carnival by Giorgos Moutafis

Every first Monday after the end of the carnival Galaxidi changes in a battle field, a battle field full with flour. The residents and the visitors throw flour and paints to each other celebrating the carnivals end. This custom is said to exist since the Byzantine season, when the clowns of the horse racings used to colour their faces.  It is also said to be related with the big acne in the so called Shipping season in 1840. And this because then the ships used to travel from March up to November, thus the events of Carnival were simultaneously  also farewell events.
