Kosmach is a very old hutsul village in Western part of Ukraine, in Carpathian mountains (in 2012 this village celebrated its 600-years anniversary), where the ancient traditions are carefully kept. Hutsuls is ethnic and cultural group of Carpatian highlanders. Now in Kosmach there are several groups of traditional Christmas carolers: "Angels" - little girls; "The Four Kings" - usually these roles performed by 12-14 years old boys; "korolytsy" - young unmarried girls-carolers in traditional hutsul clothes; young men called "lugoviky". They start the performance at Christmas Eve (January 6). "The Four Kings" continue performance at Christmas morning (January 7). This story is about little girl – Marichka Garasym'yuk (6 years old), who play role of "Angel" at Cristmas Eve. Marichka's parents help her to prepare and to wear costume of "Angel". Than Marichka with her grandmother goes for greeting of relatives and neighbors. She sings carols and receives money or sweets as gifts. After greetings she come back home for traditional holiday lean dinner with family.
